Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBCT) in Plantation, Florida

Mindfulness-based therapy builds your ability to notice what’s happening in your body and mind in the present moment, before a stressful thought or feeling has a chance to escalate. Rooted in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, this approach combines present-moment awareness with practical strategies for managing anxiety, low mood, and reactivity.

I offer individualized, mental health counseling for adults in Plantation and Broward County in person, and throughout Florida by telehealth.

Why Choose Us

How I Use Mindfulness-Based Techniques

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 10 years of experience, and mindfulness has been part of my approach to counseling from the start. My years spent training officers, clinicians, and corporate teams in crisis response and de-escalation reinforced how much staying present and composed under pressure matters, both for the people I trained and for the clients I work with today. I bring that same emphasis on staying grounded in the moment into how I teach mindfulness skills in session. Read more about my approach to counseling.

What Mindfulness-Based Therapy Can Help With

I use mindfulness-based techniques with clients managing anxiety, chronic stress, low mood, overthinking, and reactivity that seems to spiral before they’ve had a chance to catch it.

It’s particularly useful for clients who notice their mind jumping to worst-case scenarios or replaying a difficult moment long after it’s over, since mindfulness gives you a way to interrupt that cycle in real time rather than only understanding it afterward.

What Mindfulness-Based Therapy Looks Like in Session

Sessions typically involve guided practices that build your awareness of thoughts, physical sensations, and emotional shifts as they’re happening, along with conversation about how to apply that awareness to specific situations in your life.

I often pair mindfulness work with cognitive strategies, so you’re not only noticing a difficult thought but also learning what to do with it.

Between sessions, I may ask you to practice short mindfulness exercises so the skill becomes more automatic over time.

Benefits of Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Clients I work with through mindfulness-based approaches often notice they can catch anxious or negative thought spirals earlier, react less automatically to stress, and feel more settled in their body throughout the day.

Many also find it easier to stay present in conversations and situations that used to feel overwhelming, since the goal is building a skill you can rely on well beyond the therapy room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need meditation experience to benefit from this approach?

No. I teach mindfulness skills from the ground up, and most clients start with no prior meditation or mindfulness experience.

Is mindfulness-based therapy only for anxiety?

No. While it’s especially useful for anxiety and overthinking, I also use it with clients managing depression, chronic stress, and reactivity connected to trauma.

How is this different from just practicing meditation on my own?

Mindfulness-based therapy connects present-moment awareness directly to your specific patterns and goals, with a licensed counselor guiding how you apply it, rather than a general, unguided practice.

Is this available by telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth counseling is available throughout Florida, in addition to in-person sessions in Plantation and Broward County.
